Siding

Siding must be solid if wood and crack free if stucco. On your walk around you noted if the siding needed to be repaired.

Well, after the roof is on and the windows and doors have been installed, it is time to arrange for the siding to be repaired as needed.

Rather than make small replacements in bad areas, there is a better result if entire pieces of siding are replaced. So if you have a bad area of wood siding near a door, then replacement of an entire sheet 4' x 8' might be a better idea than trying to piece in a 2' x 2' piece. Everyone will know that is what was done. Full sheets are harder to detect as having been replaced.

If the siding is poor, then a residing may be in your plans. If residing is in the scope of work, then a heads-up notice should be passed on to the siding contractor so the materials can be available when it is time for the work to begin.

Siding is one of these building materials which can be hard to get in the size and color you want when you want it. Plan to stay ahead of the curve on this material item and you will not be delayed in the project.

If you can, give the siding contractor two weeks notice for a smoothly flowing job. Less time will probably result in a delay due to material or labor unavailability. Scheduling is what you are paid for so do it well.
