Interior Paint
Painters should be scheduled well in advance and allowed a long time to
complete their work. Plan on a pair of painters to be in a house of ordinary size for
ten days. Sure, many of the TV
programs about flipping show painters working through the night to get the job
done. That's TV. Painters do not work through the night in real life.
Painters will make the place look great. They have to prep all walls and all
trim. They need a paint schedule to show where all colors and types of paint are
to be used.
Let the painting contractor provide the paint. They have buddies in the
paint stores where they frequent. Let them have their brand. You will get a
better job than if you buy and provide the paint. First, the painters will
complain. Second, you will never get just the right type of anything. And
importantly, you will not get as good a price as a painter will get.
Limit the number or colors to one for the walls, one for ceilings, and one
for trim. Trying to get cute with color in different rooms will come back to
haunt you during the sales process.
If you paint everything an egg shell color, you can mention during the walk
through with a potential buyer, that this is a finish coat but can serve as an
excellent undercoat if the customer has a different paint color in mind for a
certain room.
Your construction schedule should allow adequate time for touch up after a
walk through inspection by you.
