Architect Meeting

If your project will involve structural changes for a different floor plan, you will likely be required to provide drawings to the building department as part of the permit process. A meeting with an architect to get an estimate for this cost is very important.

Other aspects of the work you plan may occur to the architect that you did not think about. This will be money well spent if you plan to eliminate or relocate walls.

Adding partitions is not a problem. When adding, and not removing, the structural integrity of the structure remains. Often no drawings are needed for this sort of work. But there may be electrical requirements which will need a drawing. All this can be discussed with an architect before buying the property rather than finding out after buying the property that there will be a huge cost involved in continuing with a project after it is shut down by a building official due to a lack of architect involvement and written plans. Check all this out in advance.
